If You See A Hobo On The Street, Should You Give Him Money?
Imagine this; you’re walking down the street with your friends when you see a hobo on the road with a sign that says, “HELP ME”! Your friends decide to give him their spare change but you just simply ignore him. Despite what other people think, I disagree; giving money to homeless people on the street could lead them to buying inappropriate items that were not intended. Also they could be a fake, and lastly, donating to charities is an all around better alternative.
In the first place, hobos could spend your hard earned money on inappropriate items such as alcohol, drugs and gambling. That’s right, and did you know that over 8% of the homeless population has drinking, drug and gambling problems. In total, that’s approximately 40,000,000 people out of 500,000,000 people world wide. These people are homeless because of these problem, so instead of giving them money you should give them food or a blanket. This would help them without the worry of them buying improper items. Therefore you shouldn’t give money to a hobo.
Secondly, hobos could be a fake. Unfortunately, many people dress up as hobos to get free money that they don’t need. As a result over 13% of the homeless population is a fake. Altogether, that’s roughly about 65,000,000 people out of 500,000,000 people internationally. In addition, you shouldn’t give money to homeless people.
Lastly, donating to charities is just a better idea if you want to donate money. First of all, donating to charities or homeless shelters would help more than one person. Second of all, hobos should go to charities or homeless shelters to get a home, food and friends. Finally, giving money to charities and homeless shelters would assure you that you know it’s going to the right place; therefore you shouldn’t give money to hobos on the street.
