Acc National Poverty Center, since the late 1960’s, pov rate for people 65+ has fallen dramatically, pov rate for children has historically been somewhat higher than the overall poverty rate. 2010: 15.1% of all persons lived in pov.

Pov rate 2010 was the highest poverty rate since 1993.
Btw 1993 & 2000: pov rate fell each year, reaching 11.3% in 2000. These numbers = very shocking but even more shocking about them = keep on increasing every year.

We, as a group, went to interview ABCD’s director: to get much more in depth in the idea of their organization as a whole. We wanted to understand how this organization really function. We researched it: very interesting subject for us all.

Through my inter com class, I was asked to choose an organization & work with them; that is how I first learned about them. Introduced it to my group.
Chose it = we thought that their organization & the way they help people are very effective and touching at the same time...

Let me explain to you what is poverty.
Acc to American dictionary, poverty = state of one who lacks a certain amount of material possessions/money. We are sure that you all know what poverty is.
All the countries that you are from confront poverty.
We are also sure that when you walk around Boston, you encounter a lot of homeless people & that you feel pity for them. We really want to make you understand how you can speculate the different ways on how you can help these people & get interested in them, as it would change their lives.

Throughout this speech, Malou will give you a brief overview on the organization’s history, their goal & their values. Then, Nahira is going to develop the programs that they offer for children & elders going through poverty. And finally, Ash will explain to you how the organization & the staff are run. Conclusion:
