Introduction

This project is based on the topic “Street Children”, it also aims to find out the causes of “Street Children”, the effects “Street Children” has on the families and the community at large. This project also aims to find possible strong strategies to relieve the problem of “Street Children” in the community of Claremont and the world at large.

Acknowledgement

The researcher would like to thank God for making him able to complete this project, the teachers at the school that gives guidance to the researcher throughout this project. The researcher would like to thank his parents for providing the essential needs for the researcher to complete this research. The researcher would like to thank the residents of Claremont for participating in this research, the school for providing the books and to provide the facility at the researcher’s time to complete this project that is a part of the Caribbean Examination Council (C.XC).

Statement Of Problem

What are the causes of High incidence of “Street Children” in the community of Claremont and how is the community affected.

Reason For Selecting Area Of Research

The researcher has been living in the community of Claremont for sixteen years. During this time the researcher observed that there has been a High increase in the number of “Street Children” on the streets of Claremont. The problem has been pressuring for these families and the community at large. The researcher finds that if this problem is not addressed it can lead to other issues. From this problem the researcher has chosen to find the causes of this problem, the effects it has on the families, the community. The researcher also seeks to find the workable solutions to relieve this problem.

Research Questions

1. What is “Street Children”?

2. What are the causes of “Street Children” in the community of Claremont?

3. What are the effects of “Street Children” on the families and the community of Claremont?

4. What are some strategies that can be put in place to solve this serious problem?

Method Of Investigation

In order to collect data the researcher has decided to used printed questionnaires, this questionnaires will consists of Ten (10) questions and they will be opened and closened questionnaires. Reasons for selecting are as follows:

Respondents are not required to give their name so it is confidential.

It takes a little time to complete, thus it saves time and money and labour.

The data and information collected can easily be quantified.

It can be done at an individual’s confidential time.
