In our society today, social media slams teens and young adults with the idea that we need to have the perfect body image. Body image is the mental representation we create of what we think we look like, or it can even be how others view us. An effective exercise that helps with weight loss is running. Running relieves stress, maintains and improves general health, and helps to create a longer life. Staying physically active is essential to a long, healthy, more productive life. Running is a great form of exercise that doesn’t require expertise and specialized equipment; it’s free and accessible to all who want to practice it.
The health benefits of regular exercise and physical activity are hard to ignore. One important benefit of running is it improves and helps regulate your health. It is understood that not everyone can go from never exercising to full on running. As with other things in life, you should start out with the basics and gradually move into more difficult tasks. If you’re unable to run, then brisk walking is a great alternative. Brisk walking is faster than regular walking, slower than running, but can be just as effective if it is done in longer periods of time. Running or brisk walking can help prevent excess weight gain and help maintain weight loss. When a person engages in physical activity, they burn calories. The more intense the workout, the more calories they burn. This exercise is one of the most basic of intense workouts that shows results fairly quick. When a person looks good, they feel better. Exercise helps tremendously with self esteem and confidence which is an important characteristic to have. Having confidence helps you take on challenges, focus on your goals, and take risks. Without strong self esteem then you are more likely to take a more passive approach to your life, and make excuses for not going after your goals.
