Scientific name: Annona muricata English name: Sour Sop Filipino name: Guyabano Spanish name: Guanabana GUYABANO is a flowering, evergreen tree native to tropical regions of the world such as Mexico, Central America, Northern America, Africa, Southeast Asia and the Pacific. There’s a lot of claims and articles relating to health benefits of GUYABANO have attributed to its strong anti-cancer effects from the tree, to its leaves, bark, root and fruit. After several research on GUYABANO’s anti cancer property, it has become a favorite ingredient of all cancer supplements all over the world. The National Cancer Institute performed the first scientific research in1976 and have found out that GUYABANO leaves and stems were found effective in attacking and destroying malignant cells. A recent study conducted at Catholic University of South Korea stated GUYABANO was found to kill cancer cells at 10,000 times than the commonly used chemotherapy drug. In addition, Purdue University highlights Anonaceous Acetogenins, a unique chemical found in the fruit, leaves, bark and roots of GUYABANO as effective anti cancer agent and leaves healthy cells alone unlike chemotherapy drug (Adriamycin) which target all the cells destroying all bacteria, good and bad.
